I am not going to lie, it’s been another tough week to stay focused on studying. Why you ask…
DENVER RESTAURANT WEEK IS HERE!
For those of you who don’t know what Restaurant Week is allow me to explain… It is a ten day stretch where the locals have the opportunity to go out and try new restaurants (typically the more upscale places) without spending an ‘arm and a leg’. The cost is $30 per person (not including drinks) for a three course meal; the food should convey the concept of the restaurant and its Chef.
For the restaurant’s involved, it is a great way to reach out to new guests and get them excited about what you are doing in your restaurant (especially if you are one of the new kids on the block like we are). It also helps boost sales during a time where it may otherwise be slow.
Leading into Restaurant Week I heard nothing but horror stories from everyone who has ever worked it in the past, leaving me wondering if it was really worth all the extra work. Currently we are only half way through but I can say that it is worth every moment of it! Guests understand how the menu works (choice of two items for each course, no substitutions), the servers have full sections from the start of service all the way through the end of service, and people are buying up the higher end bottles of wine because they aren’t spending as much on the food so they want to go big with the wine. If this is how Restaurant Week is, I want it to go year round!
After Restaurant Week ends, this coming Sunday, I will get back to my usual study routine. Next up is Bordeaux!
